Pastor Dwight is a native of Wilmington, Ohio and is a graduate of Cedarville College (B.A.), Miami University (M.A.), Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague, Czech Republic. He comes to us having served as pastor of Dorothy Lane American Baptist Church in Dayton from 1997-2001, as well as having served (along with his wife, Kari) in Japan as a missionary of the ABC/USA from 2001 to 2010. In Japan, Dwight served as the Chaplain and Director of Religious Activities at the College of Humanities of Kanto Gakuin University in the Tokyo Bay area and as a consultant to the Japan Baptist Union. He’s currently finishing his doctoral program in Zen and Apophatic Christian Spirituality at Andover Newton Theological School, and serves on the Steering Committee of the ABC/USA Creation Justice Network. Some of his passions besides church and community work are hiking with family and friends, good sushi, biking, gardening, reading, learning kanji and getting to know new people!
Ceciel Shaw began her career in NY. She studied teaching and learning at Teachers College, Columbia University while working at the Mary McDowell Friends School--a Quaker school for students labeled with learning disabilities. She’s using those educator skills to create programs for and with UCG’s children and families. She is committed to connecting children to social justice work, especially within our church community. Teaching peacemaking and ways to transform conflict are also key to her work. Her family provides inspiration for her church work. A lot of her day is spent playing cars, pushing swings, looking for missing toys, reading Star Wars and Sandra Boynton books, singing nursery rhymes and judging Lego building contests with her 7 year old, 4 ½ year old and almost 2 year old. Sometimes she squeezes in baking, reading (grown-up books) and yoga.
Meghan Link, is from Johnstown, Ohio. Her B.A. is in comparative religious studies from The Ohio State University, and she is currently in the process of getting her M.Div at the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. Before serving at UCG she worked at Summit on 16th UMC in Columbus, Ohio. Meghan is passionate about inclusivity in the church as the body of Christ, especially around human sexuality. When she isn't at church or at school, she enjoys yoga, antiquing, hiking, and traveling with her partner, Logan.
