Being Here

We truly want you to feel at home here, because the truth is: the outside of our beautiful building can’t do justice to the community inside its walls.

Worship is at 10am every Sunday.

We recognize that visiting a new church can be daunting, and we know our beautiful yet formidable building can lend itself to that. Many of us carry wounds from religion or religious upbringing, up to and including trauma. Sensitive to this reality, we aim to be trauma-informed in our approach to ministry and worship. We truly want you to feel at home here, because the truth is: the outside of our building can’t do justice to the community inside its walls. So, grab a cup of coffee, gab with a few folks, and find a comfortable pew…if there is such a thing. We promise not to mob you, pester you about membership, or sign you up for committee work. We follow your lead.

As for worship, we usually run an hour-ish. There are hymns and singing, sharing of community events and prayers, readings/scripture, a raucous children’s chat, and a sermon/message. Service is pretty relaxed, with no dress code, and we move with the Spirit. That is to say, sometimes we improvise–sometimes we stay on script–but it’s never perfect or polished.

However, it IS authentic.

Top Five Things to expect when arriving on a Sunday morning:

  1. The sanctuary is beautiful, big and red. Drink it in.

  2. People will say hello and greet you, but not over-the-top-so.

  3. We have a Welcome Table. Make a name tag, or not. Preferred pronouns are welcome.

  4. Coffee is in the kitchen, and we can put on a kettle for tea.

  5. Find a seat where you feel comfortable. We try not to do ‘pew politics’ here, so don’t worry about sitting in someone’s seat.
