Multi-Generational Opportunities

Community activities, Book Studies, Service Options and FUN are available for each age group. We build our beloved community by growing with each other.

Nursery

We welcome and nurture babies in our midst and want to ensure that they are cared for on Sundays. Our nursery is available for infants and toddlers during our worship service. Responsible adults take turns caring for them. Age appropriate play elements are enjoyed by all!

Children

We love our children at UCG. They are creative, intelligent, curious, and pretty darn funny. We believe that the church is just as much theirs as any of us, so we make plenty of room for them to speak, ask questions, and blossom into the beautiful humans they are.

Children’s Church takes place during worship where the children learn about the Bible, do activities, and learn from their elders in the church. We also host a “prayground” the second Sunday of each month, where our kids remain in a designated area of the church during worship with supervision and plenty of activities. Our program is ever-growing and evolving!

Youth

Our youth program continues to grow with some really amazing young people. The youth group often meets after church as well as for scheduled activities throughout the year (volunteer work, swimming, scavenger hunts, trips down the street to Whit’s Ice Cream). We also welcome their contributions to worship and offer them leadership opportunities during Sunday services. Each summer our middle and high-schoolers have the opportunity to participate in Be-Loved Youth Camp, an enriching week spent with friends from around the country.  Our adult representative joins with leaders from other progressive churches to craft this week of fun and spiritual enrichment in the rolling hills of western North Carolina.

Adults

At UCG, when someone has an idea, we tend to run with it. That means that we don’t hold weekly Bible studies or book groups; we respond to the times and the Spirit. Our structured study opportunities typically occur every Advent and Lent.

Currently we are having a series of conversations about how Christians can respond to the current moment entitled: “Dive In” which arises from our theme this year: “Into the Deep.” These occur the first Sunday of the month after worship.

We have recently had book studies using “Braiding Sweetgrass” by Robin Wall Kimmerer, “Being Mortal” by Atul Gawande and “How to End Christian Nationalism” by Amanda Tyler.

A group of Unitarian Universalists meet once a month in our chapel for their "Great Circle Fellowship."

Zen Meditation: We offer meditation Wednesday evenings at 7 pm in the UCG Chapel. This is open to everyone and beginners are welcome.
